WHY DO BREAST IMPLANTS NEED TO BE REPLACED?

Breast augmentation revision usually involves removal or replacement of saline or silicone implants. Several situations cause this operation to occur:

Change in breast size:

If you decide to change your implant size, Dr.Etoz will use the incision made in the previous operation. If you want an implant larger than the previous one, Dr.Etoz will surgically enlarge the pocket surrounding the implant to accommodate a larger implant. If you want implants smaller than before, the doctor can reduce pocket size with sutures.

Capsular contracture:

Dr. Etöz removes the old implant and places new implants from the old incision site. For more information on capsular contracture, please check out our blog post.

Implant rippling:

When the edges of saline implants are visible and palpable, they are usually replaced using a different type of implant.

Implant malposition:

Sometimes the implant pockets may be too far apart or close together. This makes the breasts look incompatible. To correct this, the implant pockets are recreated and new implants are placed.

Implant removal:

If the implants are too big and the skin is stretched, the implants are removed. Sometimes breast lift operation may be recommended in this case.

Elevation of nipple and areola position:

When the position of the nipples and areolas need to be raised, additional incisions are needed. If the nipples need to be lifted, the nipples and areola remain attached to the underlying tissue fragments, which allows breastfeeding.
